Japan’s Naomi Osaka created history by winning her fourth Grand Slam title at the Australian Open 2021. After her triumph, she received endless congratulatory messages and her friend from the tour, Iga Swiatek, recently joined that list.
The Polish No. 1 player had also competed for the title but failed in the fourth-round against Simona Halep. However, she couldn’t miss out on watching the final and was delighted with the outcome.
The Japanese-born, Naomi Osaka, defeated the 22 seed Jennifer Brady to win her second Australian Open title. And the reigning French Open champion, Iga Swiatek, believes that she deserved it.

Iga Swiatek feels that Naomi Osaka is pretty strong right now
Osaka crushed Serena Williams’ dream of the 24 Grand Slam in the semifinals. Following that, she dominated the entire final match against the debutant Grand Slam finalist, Brady. Thus, the world witnessed the Japanese star moving along on the path of greatness.

Even the 19-year-old Polish teenager, who saw the match, thought it was great. “I also watched finals and, yeah, I’m really happy that Naomi won. I feel like she’s pretty strong right now and that’s her place to be. So it’s great,” Iga said.
Presently, Swiatek is playing in the Adelaide International event and is through to the Round of 16. Along with her, the Australian World No. 1 Ashleigh Barty is also competing in the tournament.
Meanwhile, the 23-year-old Japanese is still celebrating her big win in Melbourne Park. Moreover, she has not lost a match since February 2020 and will continue her 21-match winning streak in the season.

What’s next for Osaka in 2021?

Primarily, the current World No. 2 will look forward to attaining the top rank in the circuit again. For that, Osaka will need to perform a similar stunt in the upcoming Grand Slam tournaments.

Given Osaka’s dominance against the top players, it will be a challenge for others to stop the Japanese star. Also, the Australian Open 2021 triumph will certainly boost Osaka’s confidence in her game.

From 2018 to 2021, Osaka has won a Grand Slam every year but never won two in a single year. Hence, this will be something the reigning US Open might want to change this year. Will Osaka get her fifth Grand Slam title in 2021?
