She announced her split with her coach Tomasz Victorowski and later, speculations surrounding a major shuffle in her coaching camp aired, with reports suggesting that Swiatek also parted ways with her longtime sparring partner Tomasz Moczek. However, a critical update might shun those rumors and further stabilize the Polish star’s apparent ‘in-pieces’ team.

According to the latest update on X, a passionate fan mentioned that the World No. 1 was seen training with her sparring partner on the court. Earlier, it was reported by a Polish channel Sofa Sportowa that Swiatek’s sparring partner had left her team, but the claim was debunked by the Polish journalist, Dominik Senkowski, who wrote on X, “Channel @SofaSportowa reports that Iga Swiatek’s sparring partner Tomas Moczek has left the team. I asked Iga’s manager for a comment, but she denies it. Merely a couple of days ago, Swiatek called it quits with Tomasz Wiktorowski. She dedicated an emotional tribute upon parting ways with the Polish coach, commending their highly successful partnership. “Coach Wiktorowski joined my team for three seasons when I strongly needed changes and a fresh approach to my game. His experience, analytical and strategic attitude, and enormous knowledge helped us to achieve things I’d never dreamed of.” However, their farewell came attached with a troubling report.

According to a report published by Sport.pl, the duo shared a complex dynamic, wherein the Polish coach often iterated harsh words and an ungiving attitude towards Swiatek. “He became nervous, used offensive words, and more and more often he treated Iga harshly, such as in New York,” the report stated, citing insiders.

Nevertheless, the Polish No. 1 enjoyed a stellar partnership with Wiktorowski, pocketing four Grand Slam titles under his tutelage. However, to be more versatile, the Pole needed fresh eyes. Following Iga Swaitek’s coaching split, the former Austrian pro-Barbara Schett chimed in to validate the Pole’s decision. Iga Swiatek has been consistent on the tour for a few years now, but out of the five grand slam titles that she has won, four have come on the clay court. Talking to Eurosport, Schett highlighted that second opinions carry heavy weight when competing in tour-level events and a fresh pair of eyes in the coaching staff will only add to Swiatek’s versatility.

“Iga Swiatek might be No. 1 in the world, (but) she still wants to develop her game outside of clay, on grass and hard (courts). Let’s face it, it hasn’t really happened in the last year or two. She is looking for something different; an outside look, because at this level every percentage counts,” Schett said.

With changes to her coaching staff and being tasked to find a suitable replacement, Swiatek has hit a pause on her touring commitments. After withdrawing from the Asian hardcourt swing, the Pole will aim for a fitting conclusion to the year by storming the WTA Finals in Abu Dhabi.
