After being diagnosed with cancer in September 2020, Carla Suarez Navarro came back to the tour in 2021. However, later on, she announced that she’ll retire by the year-end. Just recently, she played at the Billie Jean King.

After Team Spain got knocked out from the cup, players penned down an emotional message for the Spaniard after her successful career. Players like Sara Sorribes Tormo, Belinda Bencic, Nuria Parrizas Diaz, Andrea Petkovic, and many more conveyed their experience playing with the 33-year-old.

After Navarro’s last match at Billie Jean King Cup, WTA players spoke about her incredible career. Andrea Petkovic said, “Always had a smile on the face, no matter win or lose she was one of the players you could never tell if she has won or lost the match.”

Nuria Parrizas Diaz commented, “Congratulations! Because she has a career that many would want for themselves. It has also been a very difficult year for her. She managed to move forward, in difficult circumstances.”

Moreover, Caroline Garcia also quoted, “Hello Carla. We will miss you a lot in the coming years. It has been a pleasure meeting you. You are an amazing player and a very amazing person. I hope we see each other again in Tenerife or Palma. I really want to see you again.”
