Olympic gold medalist tennis star Serena Williams is back at ESPYS but in a new role. After bagging the Best Female Tennis Player award ten times and the Best Female Athlete award twice, Williams is ready to rock the event’s stage at Dolby Theatre but with a twist. Following auto racer Danica Patrick’s path, Serena becomes the fourth woman to take up a different role at ESPYS showing her brilliance and popularity in the sports community. As Serena Williams takes up the role of ESPYS’s new female host, ESPN and Nine Two Six Media collaborated to showcase some of her career’s most memorable moments including her Grand Slam wins and tidbits of her personal life.

Serena Williams recently took to her official Instagram platform to share the news of her upcoming documentary In the Arena: Serena Williams. She shared a clip where fans could see her in a molten gold one-shoulder dress with a racket in her hand in front of a stadium full of people as if she was a moment away from making a serve. Donning blue Nike sneakers with the gown, Williams rocked the look, showing her incredible fashion sense. In this clip, fans also heard Williams narrating her journey as her statue gradually came into the light. “I didn’t need to blend in. I needed to be different cause I was different. I was something that no one has ever seen before ever,” said Serena in that clip.  Sharing this, the world’s former number-one tennis star further captioned it- “I can’t wait for you to see what I have been working on! The eight-part series “In The Arena: Serena Williams” premieres July 10 on ESPN+”

It is highly unlikely that Serena Williams will do something brilliant and it will go unnoticed by her sister Venus Williams. When Serena and ESPN shared the news on their official Instagram profile that she would host the event, Venus Williams came forward to promote it happily with her fans through her Instagram story. Not to forget, Serena’s elder sister has also won the Best Female Tennis Player award thrice in 2001, 2002, and 2006. Nevertheless, given Venus’s nonstop PDA with her baby sister on social media, fans expected her to be excited about Serena’s new role at the award show.

Nonetheless, tennis fans can’t wait but count the days to 10th July to experience this tennis marvel’s incredible journey on the screen again.
