Miami Open 2024 winner Danielle Collins dropped some great advice for the young generation of tennis players. Collins had a massive success over Rybakina at the tournament’s finals. However, this victory was not a piece of cake for the American professional tennis star. Since Collins suffers from both endometriosis and arthritis, tennis is a painful and costly professional endeavor for her. Nevertheless, these challenges couldn’t really stop Collins from taking what she deserves in her career.

Danielle Collins’s Miami Open win before her planned retirement expressed the resilience and skill of this veteran tennis player. Now following her advice, Collins represented a mature and dedicated side of her personality.

Danielle Collins advises newcomers to tennis to “stay positive no matter what”

During her post-victory interview with Prakash Amritraj of Tennis Channel, she was asked to give some advice for the newcomers in tennis. In her response, Danielle Collins said- “I have learned a lot over my life but to narrow it down to one thing is hard and you know I think the biggest thing for these junior players and one of the things that can be a challenge for anybody at this level, you’re a junior, whether you’re a professional, is trying to stay positive no matter what.”

From expressing her feelings watching Andre Agassi in the stadium to dropping advice for young tennis enthusiasts, Collins’s interview was great and motivational for her fans. While dropping the advice for newcomers, Collins also made sure to address that it is not an easily achievable thing.

It’s hard. And there’s days that are really challenging and more you can try to stay positive and have those positive thoughts and to be your own friend on court, this is a tough, tough sport,” she said.

No matter how hard it was for her, Collins truly enjoyed the last match of her tennis career. Her post-victory statements represent her sheer spirit and wish to give herself a great parting gift before the season ends.

Before her retirement which she announced at the Australian Open finals this season, Collins wanted to reach some feats in her professional career. After defeating Rybakina in an aggressive match, she said – “That game took a lot out of me and Elena was pushing me all around the court, At the end I was just like, ‘Thank God.’ It all caught up to me. To the fans, I’ve played a lot of tennis, a few finals, and nothing close to this,”

Danielle Collins further remembered her friends and fans who encouraged her to work hard for this success. She ended her statement by saying– “In my home state, to come out here in front of thousands of my best friends pushing me to get over this hurdle, I was getting very emotional. It was an incredible environment. I’ve never experienced anything like it.”

This American WTA player’s advice for tennis newcomers not only offers the dark reality of the sport but also encourages youngsters to fight for their dreams.
