Taylor Townsend's Wimbledon run—Is this the start of a new era for American women's tennis?

People may not remember exactly what you did or what you said. However, if you have a charismatic personality like Taylor Townsend, then people will always remember how you made them feel! From being hailed as a junior prodigy to being subjected to mismanagement of her talent, Townsend has seen many ups and downs in her career, but she has accepted everything with a bright smile. The 28-year-old American tennis star recently reached the third major finals of her career at the 2024 Wimbledon in the doubles event with Katerina Siniakova. Here’s how she brought in a different vibe inside the studio of the Tennis Channel during her post-match interview.

Everyone, including her BJK Cup captain Lindsay Davenport, was mesmerized by her. When asked if Taylor Townsend is the most charismatic person on the planet, Davenport said, “The greatest!“. She revealed how she got to know her better during the BJP Cup. “She’s (Townsend) awesome! Like not only as a teammate,” but Davenport feels her energy level is insane. “I was crying-laughing trying to figure out all the puzzles,” said the former WTA pro.

According to Townsend, her “energy levels” are always a bit different when it comes to major tournaments. Because she is always excited to play at the bigger stages of the game. Previously during an interview, she admitted that she has an enormous belief in herself and she thinks she has everything to be a top player in the world. “I’m not gonna be my worst enemy anymore, I’m not gonna beat myself, so my opponents are gonna have to figure out how to beat me. I’m not beating me anymore. That’s not always 100 percent, but that’s my intention,” said Townsend.
