“Being a working mom, it’s not easy, but I try and make it worthwhile and always tell him I’m leaving for a reason,” Taylor Townsend confessed back in January following her AO triumph with doubles partner Katerina Siniakova. After giving birth to son Adyn in 2021, the WTA pro has always found it hard to strike a balance between professional and personal life. Pursuing a pro career and embracing motherhood simultaneously is not an easy task by any means. But Townsend is still acing this challenge. Now that she’s on a break from on-court commitments, following a recent SF exit in doubles from Miami, she’s got all the time in the world to enjoy with her 4-year-old. But guess what? She’s regretting it already.
Townsend took to her IG account and shared a story, on Tuesday. “#momlife back in action,” she wrote while dropping a video. So what’s she up to? Well, her tennis break isn’t going as expected. And of course it’s been far from relaxed. Reason? It’s because of her son Adyn and his mischievous antics.
Sharing a brief clip of the mess created by the 4-year-old, Townsend revealed, “Just a typical Tuesday night, I mean morning with a 4-year-old child that is set on making my life difficult.” To make things worse, the little boy seemed to care the least. When his mother asked him to “clean this up,” he overlooked and carried on with his playful attitude.

Undoubtedly, Townsend was left annoyed as she told him, “You’re not helping.” But hey, Adyn’s always got some cute tricks up his sleeves to win over his mother. Remember how he praised his “princess” a few weeks back?
Last month, Townsend unveiled a clip featuring her son. In the description, she called him “Literally the best son ever ❤️🥰.” Why so? The video began with mom telling Adyn, “I just want love. You are so handsome.” To that, she received an unexpectedly sweet response from the little one. “Thank you, princess,” he said. Townsend, who was naturally ecstatic with the response, told him, “You are the sweetest.”
However, the 4-year-old wasn’t done with his compliments. He further added, “You are the sweetest princess I ever know. And you do nice things for me.” Townsend couldn’t believe her ears as she was filled with utmost pride. “You’re gonna make me cry. I love you,” she said. To that, AJ concluded, “And thank you for letting me know you.” That made Townsend exclaim, “Oh my gosh!”
But this wasn’t their only sweet time together this year. Townsend recently shared a very sweet appreciation message for her son on his birthday!

Prior to giving birth to Adyn, Taylor Townsend was highly skeptical regarding motherhood. Especially because she wanted all her focus on her career. “One of the things that was shocking was that I didn’t want kids because I have spent my whole…entire life playing tennis. I’ve been playing tennis since I was four,” she said in an interaction with Essence in February.
But guess what? It appears Adyn has really changed her perspective in the last few years. So much so, that she can’t stay away from him now. Despite her professional commitments, she tries to take out as much time as she can to spend with her little one.
She further added, “It’s also really strange because I won a Grand Slam, and then one day later, I’m in a different country, and I get my a– kicked, and it’s crazy, but that’s just how tennis goes….I’m really enjoying the time that I have to myself. When I’m on the road, and I don’t travel with AJ, I really try and just use this time to ask myself questions and get one with myself. I try to use these opportunities to grow as a person, so I come back and I’m able to instill certain lessons in him or certain realizations that I’ve maybe come to while I’ve been gone to help me to be a better mom to him. I’m enjoying it.”
