Serena Williams has retired with well-deserved honor and an astounding career to look back to. Even if she could not break the 24 grand slam titles record of Margaret Court, she reigned the era she played in. However, Court has some different points of view regarding the time period Williams played in. She feels it is much easier.

Moreover, she expressed her desire to play in this era. Serena Williams has retired with 23 grand slam titles in the singles category.

The Australian tennis legend has expressed her views on the prevailing conditions in which Serena Williams played. Williams tried to surpass the record of 24 grand slam titles of Court, however, she could not do so. Court believes that the conditions in which she had to play were more difficult than Williams’. She said, “I would love to have played in this era–I think it’s so much easier.”

She wondered how nice it would have been able to take your loves ones along with you. She said, “How I would love to have taken family or friends along with me. But I couldn’t, I had to go on my own or with the national team.” She elaborated on how things were different back then. She said, “People don’t see all that. As amateurs, we had to play every week, because we didn’t have any money.”

She concluded by pointing out the contrast and said, “Now, they can take off whenever they want, fly back whenever they want.” Court and Williams played in different eras and had different social conditions too. The two tennis legends reigned the eras they played in.

Serena Williams started her record of grand slam titles with her victory at the US Open in 1999. She won her last grand slam at the finals of the Australian Open 2017. Her glorious career and her fight with the society made her the world icon that she is today.
