Caroline Wozniacki has finally returned to the Grand Slam stage. But this time, a lot of things are different; she is not the same tennis player she was earlier. Her comeback has changed her perspective on a lot of things and given her thoughts on what she wants to present on the tennis court.

In a similar way, this time she has pulled up her sleeves to take on a new role as a tennis player that she was not able to take during her elongated career before the break. The 33-year-old Danish tennis player has faced a lot of ups and downs in terms of tennis popularity. Even though she has caught a lot of hatred in the past, now that she is ready to script a new history, she has one thing in mind to start with.

The former world number one suffered a heartbreaking exit at the 2023 US Open, making it to the fourth round of the tournament. After facing defeat at the hands of the 19-year-old Coco Gauff, the Dane was asked in the post-match press conference about her feelings regarding receiving a lot of support from the tennis fans and whether she is embracing more of the positive fan following as a role model or inspiration.

Serena Williams’ best friend said, “Obviously I had two kids. I want to be a good role model for them especially. I obviously want to be a good role model for the kids out there. But I’m also a competitor and I’m just out there to fight my hardest and play my hardest. I think I’ve always done that. Trying to do that with respect to my opponent and everything else.”  

Subsequently, now that she is older, she is ready to be a role model for her kids and the other younger generation out there in every possible way. Since her comeback, she has received a lot more support than she might have ever received in the past.

Although she had won a Grand Slam title and reached the top ranking before the break itself, she also faced a lot of criticism for being called the most overrated number-one tennis player ever. Back in 2010, there was a lot of debate and discussion about whether she was capable of pulling off the position she was in.

When Wozniacki’s tennis achievements were questioned 

For a brief period, back in 2010 and 2011, Williams’ best friend faced a lot of criticism when several fans called her the most overrated world number one player of that time. According to Bleacher Report, at that time she had not won a Grand Slam title, and everyone wanted her to focus on big wins.

Even though, back in that time, having the 23-time Grand Slam champion on the competitive circuit stood as tough competition for her, a lot of fans wanted her to be consistent just to be the best tennis player of that time. Nevertheless, now that she has started the second inning of her tennis career, she is ready to focus on big wins and consistency and complete the puzzle she left unsolved.
