Entering the Stuttgart Open as the second seed, Aryna Sabalenka was awarded a walkover in the round-of-16 match after her Spanish opponent, Paula Badosa, picked up an injury in the third set. During the match, Sabalenka hit four aces and three double faults against Badosa, while she had a first-serve win percentage of 71%, which decreased to 47% on the second serve. The current number 2 player also converted 9 out of 19 break points.

Markéta Vondroušová, on the other hand, is entering the Stuttgart Open as the sixth-seeded participant, and she defeated Donna Vekić in the opening round. In the round of 16, the Czech tennis star recently breezed past her Russian opponent Anastasia Potapova in straight sets, 7-6, 6-1. Vondroušová hit four aces in the match and three double faults. The reigning Wimbledon champion won 78% of points on her first serve and 53% on her second serve. She also won 3 out of 4 break points.

Sabalenka vs. Vondroušová: Head-to-Head

The quarterfinal match between Aryna Sabalenka and Markéta Vondroušová at the Stuttgart Open will also mark their seventh meeting on the women’s circuit. In their previous encounter at the 2023 Adelaide International, the Belarusian player prevailed in straight sets, and she currently has a 4-2 lead in their H2H record.
