“Story Humanizes Them”: Hollywood Star Shares His Experience of Working with Venus and Serena Williams

‘King Richard’, a biographical drama on the life of Richard Williams, Serena and Venus Williams’ father, will soon be hitting the silver screen. It mainly focuses on Richard Williams and his determination towards coaching his young daughters. It tells the story of Venus and Serena, and how they evolved into two of the greatest tennis players of all time.

In a recent interview, Tony Goldwyn talks about working on this special project. Tony Goldwyn is an American actor who is playing the character of Venus’ first coach, Paul Cohen.

The American actor, Tony Goldwyn, was thrilled to be a part of ‘King Richard’. The actor is playing the role of Venus Williams’ first coach, Paul Cohen. In an interview, Goldwyn expressed his impressions of working on this exceptional project.

When asked about what it was like working with the Williams’ sisters, Tony Goldwyn said, “It’s a great gift to have the Williams’ family, Venus, and Serena, and the whole family behind this project. Because you feel this kind of support… I knew they were trailblazers, but what this story does is it gives you a window in such an intimate way into this family.”

Moreover, he added, “We tend to idealize icons like them and think of them as sort on mount Olympus. And this story really humanizes them. You see what they went through and how they got to where they did, and it really is about family… It’s just really inspiring, hilarious, moving, emotionally honest film that you just can’t believe it’s true.”

‘King Richard’ release date and cast

‘King Richard’, starring Will Smith as the lead actor, will release on 19th November 2021. Will Smith is playing Richard Williams, while Aunjanue Ellis plays his wife’s role. Saniyya Sidney and Demi Singleton will play Venus and Serena Williams, respectively. Tony Goldwyn will be acting as Venus Williams’ first coach, Paul Cohen.
