Legendary American tennis star Serena Williams recently retired from tennis. The 40-year-old is a sports icon and has a special place in the hearts of the people of America. Apart from her brilliance on the court, Serena also is an avid investor. Being an athlete herself, Williams has a particular interest in sports investments.

She along with her husband Alexis Ohanian, owns principal shares in the Los Angeles base women’s football team Angel City FC, which is worth $100 million. Recently, the team played its last home game of the season. Even though they lost, Ohanian came up with a series of tweets for support.

Alexis Ohanian backs Angel City FC after the loss

Playing in their last home game, Angel City FC suffered a 1-3 defeat against Racing Louisville. Later, Alexis Ohanian took to his Twitter account and shared multiple tweets in support of the team. Further, he shared the news about the auction of game-worn jerseys from the last home game.

“Tough loss. But I’m still so proud of this club. I’ll hopefully win a few of these Momentos, too,” Ohanian wrote.

Ohanian has been the biggest fan of the franchise since its inception. The 39-year-old is a huge advocate of women’s sports and is doing his bit to bring it at par with men’s sports.

Alexis Ohanian tears up during Serena Williams’ last tournament

Serena planned a perfect farewell for herself. The tennis icon decided to play her final tournament in her home country. For one last time, Serena entered the race for the US Open title. The 40-year-old started well with a victory in her first two matches. However, the third-round match proved to be her career’s last.

Throughout the tournament, Serena received immense support from the crowd. Her husband Alexis Ohanian and daughter were present there to cheer for her. While the atmosphere was energetic, Ohanian was emotional watching his wife play in her last tournament. In a video that surfaced later, he was seen tearing up while cheering for Serena from the stands.
