Receiving tons of emails every day is a part of being on the internet that no one signs up for. However, they are inevitable and cannot be escaped. The even more difficult part is not being able to keep up with the daily emails from various websites. Many senders end up in the spam folder, but most stay on the inbox option forever. The co-founder of Reddit and husband of Serena Williams, a celebrity in his own right, is not immune to that problem.
Alexis Ohanian, the founder of the 776 foundation, is an active social media user. Most of his tweets resonate with his fans and he has a high engagement rate on his Twitter account.

Alexis Ohanian usually makes relatable comments. But his recent one sparked a long ongoing discussion about the problem everyone faces. Alexis said that he receives too many mass marketing emails.
He has made a big attempt at unsubscribing from them but has ultimately failed. “I’ve really made an effort to unsubscribe from mass marketing emails in my personal email (I’ve got like 20+ years of email debt there) and it’s NEVER-ENDING. Damn.”
His followers seem to be having the same issues.

User @apeaoebaby said that they are extra petty during the holiday season. They make more of an effort to delete such emails especially when referred to as “friend” by the sender.
I make an extra effort on holidays when they all say hello and give you a special discount for being such a good “friend”.

One follower likened the situation to a sinking boat. They said the same spam issue exists with physical mail.

User @Leila tells her story of unsubscribing from a company a decade ago but she still receives emails from them.
I unsubscribed from a weight loss company about 10 years ago and I kid you not, I still get emails reminding me to lose weight. Can they see that I'm nowhere near my goal weight still. Weigh to get me back.

Similarly, one user said that some services just ignore any message about removing subscription from their services.
Same here. I found that some just completely ignore that you’ve unsubscribed from their distribution

A technical solution was given by @nobeerleftcast. They said google should have a feature that allows one to deny emails from being received.
Google should really give the ability to do a “denial of email” feature by which the emails don’t get unsupported, they just get denied

A user shared her pain of having to unsubscribe from several senders daily.
I have been unsubscribing every day also, and I feel I’m having to do it more now since when I started!

James said they use the Gmail auto-unsubscribe feature, but it still took them an effort of a month.
At the start of 2023 I made the decision to make a conscious effort to do this. The gmail auto-unsubscribe feature is a huge help.
Still, one month of aggressively managing and it still feels like a never ending wave of them…
