The 7 Grand Slam title holder was having a tough time after failing to qualify for the second round in any of the tournaments this year. There have been quite a few stop-starts for her this season and she was about to make a comeback in Jasmin Open. But that looks quite gloomy for now after her revelation of ongoing recovery from an injury she got in her 24th appearance at Wimbledon.
She had twisted her knee by slipping on the grass while attempting a backhand volley during the third-round game against Elina Svitolina. Let us see what she said in a recent interview about her injury and comeback.
“I had a crazy fall at Wimbledon. I just slipped and I was out. I tried my best to recover for the US Open. I did not reach my form so now I am just resting until I get back. I am targeting March, that’s when the tournaments go back to the States, so my goal is to be up and running when tournaments come back to the US,” she said.
So Vee won't be playing anymore tournaments this year and is still healing from that fall at Wimbledon 😔
She is planning on returning March next year??(Miami open /Indian Wells) Which means no Australian Open again 😭
Atleast she will return completely healthy ❤️#QueenVee pic.twitter.com/Dasdumms1b
