Staggering ‘Fortune 500′ Example Cited by Maria Sharapova as She Sheds Light on Women Athletes’ Compatibility with Big Business

Maria Sharapova is not only known for her amazing skills and performance on the court but also for her phenomenal business style and investments. She is currently practicing and training for pickleball along with John McEnroe. But except for sports, her focus has also been on making smart entrepreneurial decisions and moves.

Just recently she was in an interview where she talked about how being in sports can play an important role in making a person good in business as well. And while she did that, she even cited her own example as well as examples of women who made their way into the Fortune 500.

Maria Sharapova talks about the importance of sports mentality in running a business

Sharapova has always been an advocate for women in sports, especially tennis. She continues to speak about important topics when it comes to sports such as equality, pay disparity, and more. In a recent interview with Bloomberg Live, Maria Sharapova, the great investor entrepreneur, and tennis champion talked about how having a mindset that resonates with sports can help women in business.

She said, “Focus and performance mindset was a huge asset that I had gained and worked on and perfected for over 20 years and now am working through this with brands and founders.”

Maria also talked about how other women in sports have benefitted from this. She added, “If you see the stats of Fortune 500, the female CEOs, 80% of those women have played sports competitively through their life journey. And all those skill sets they have built, were a part of their first chapter but now also apply to everything else.”

Sharapova also shared how she is very curious and interested in showcasing that the skills women adopt in sports can help them in business. And she wants to bring this to the audiences as well. Maria Sharapova shared that she has recently collaborated with a brand called the Aman Hotel Group/ Aman Resorts. Her part of the job in this collaboration is to bring in some of the best talents in sports. She is supposed to bring in people who have a great performance mindset and the ability to inspire.

These talented sportspeople would then further become a part of the Aman Resorts’ retreats and offerings and would have some talks with the clients of the group. She also shared that her first collaboration was in Phuket in February.
