One of the most exciting tournaments, Charleston Open is underway with a slew of top names from the women’s circuit competing for the title. The list of players also includes the WTA stars, Paula Badosa and Jessica Pegula who are in a hot-form this season. While outclassing a number of top talents in Charleston, the duo got quite vocal about a debatable topic in the tennis community.
It is the subject of “trash talk” on the court that has apparently intrigued the Spanish tennis star during the tournament. Speaking of it, the former world no. 2 player said that she is in favor of other players like Coco Gauff and Nick Kyrgios endorsing bantering in the game.

Paula Badosa expresses her opinion on the debatable subject in the tennis community:
The conversation about “trash talk” in tennis has already sparked a lot of debate in the entire community. Some of the players have already showcased their support, while others are still special about the same. Paula Badosa, on the other hand, is quite sure about her stance on the idea of players engaging in “trash talk” on the tennis court.
Emphasizing the debatable subject, they recently featured the Spanish tennis player in an interview with the Tennis Channel. The former world no. 2 player said that she is also in support of other players like Coco Gauff endorsing the notion in the game. Badosa also revealed the reason behind the same. She mentioned that it could add much more intrigue to the “polite” sport.

The former Indian Wells Open champion said that trash talk can change the traditional aspect of the game, which will make it “different and fun” for the current generation of players. However, Badosa showed her skepticism toward the WTA players, considering that they might take that idea a bit more personally.
She said, “I’m in. Traditionally tennis is polite but why not? It’s a new generation, it could be different & fun.”

Other tennis stars are also supporting the idea of bantering on the court
Apart from Badosa, a number of other big names like Nick Kyrgios have encouraged “trash talk” in the sport. The Aussie tennis star, who is known for his ferocious on-court personality, is also in favor of the notion.

Even the WTA player, Coco Gauff, loves to banter on the court. She believes it will entice more fans to the game. Speaking about it in an interview with WTA Insider, the American tennis prodigy endorsed trash-talking in tennis while she compared it to other sports like basketball.
