British tennis fans surely will have surely rejoiced like never before on Saturday night. After an overwhelming victory for teenage sensation Emma Raducanu, the nation celebrated the historic win like never before. For a country that has champions such as Andy Murray and Tim Henman, the success of Emma Raducanu is surely an emotional moment. Even at Emma’s former tennis club, members, including her former coach, gathered to cheer her on from home.

In a whirlwind couple of weeks, the 18-year-old defied all odds. She overcame ten challenges in the course of three weeks to lift the silverware at the end of it all. What’s even more amazing, is the fact that Raducanu did not concede a single set this year in New York. Undoubtedly, this will go down as one of the most unbelievable campaigns in the history of Flushing Meadows. Back at home, there was a huge gathering in South London, a place very close to Emma’s heart.

Former coach of Emma Raducanu gets emotional at her US Open win

Just as Emma Raducanu was soaring under the hot conditions in Arthur Ashe stadium, a large crowd met at her old coaching center to support her. At South London’s Parklangley Club, members met and cheered their former player on. Some of the members included the Parklangley Club manager, and Emma’s former coach Suzanne Williams. As the night went on, the crowd roared and applauded as their star romped to a win for the ages.

In an interview after the match, Suzanne Williams addressed her feelings following Raducanu’s win. “I’m speechless,” she said. “I’m sore and hoarse from screaming, but it’s so incredible. I’m so happy for her [Raducanu]. You just want good things for her. She’s made it happen for herself.” As the coach let her feelings flow, one could see how joyfully emotional she was.
