Recently, Danielle Collins extended her love to a Polish tennis player. Not Iga Swiatek, though! It was her compatriot Magdalena Frech, this time. Frech is currently enjoying the best form of her career. With the help of her incredible runs this season, she has reached an all-time high ranking in her career. Reflecting on her joy by posting one of her childhood pictures on IG, Frech wrote, “Just a small girl with big dreams! Top 30 achieved! #27 in the world! I’m super proud of what I accomplished so far and most important – a great part of this journey with smile on my face!”

She added, “From 2 courts at school to the big stadiums around the world! Thank you to the fans who are supporting me during this journey! I’m appreciating this even more as I’ve done it by myself with only few closest people around me! For some, it’s a lot for others not enough but I’m writing only my story!”

Magdalena Frech started the season ranking 70th in the world. Now she has jumped up to the 27th spot! She has gone on some deep runs in her previous tournaments this year. However, it’s her performance at the Abierto de Guadalajara that truly caught the eye. Frech defeated Australia’s Olivia Gadecki by 7-6(5),6-4 in the finals.  Interestingly, Danielle Collins showered love and support through a comment under Frech’s recent IG post. The American wrote, “A truly incredible achievement.”

Frech reciprocated the sentiment as she replied to her with a ‘heart’ emoji. Just when everything looked calm and settled between Collins and Polish nationals, here comes the twist in the tale! During the QF match at the Paris Olympics, many controversial incidents occurred. One among them was Danielle Collins accidentally hitting Iga Swiatek on the mid-rib during the play. The shot was hit so hard that Swiatek initially seemed to be in a bit of pain. Although we saw Collins checking on her opponent that time, temperatures soared high later. Reflecting on the impact of that shot, Swiatek later revealed, “I was hit right under the ribs. I couldn’t breathe for a few seconds, but a moment later everything returned to normal and everything is fine now.” One fan highlighted this moment in the comment section and wrote, “It will not be forgotten/forgiven.”

This dramatic match resulted in an unfortunate ending. Collins cited an abdominal injury and withdrew from that match. However, the drama continued even after the match ended. When the 30-year-old was asked about the incident involving Swiatek, she revealed, “I told Iga she didn’t have to be insincere about, you know, my injury. There’s a lot that happens on camera, and there are a lot of people with a ton of charisma and come out and are one way on camera and another way in the locker room. And I just haven’t had the best experience, and I don’t really feel like anybody needs to be insincere. They can be the way that they are. After hearing Collins’ comments, Swiatek reflected her thoughts on the American’s comments. At that time, the world number one claimed that she never said anything to Collins in poor taste. The Polish star revealed that she wanted to congratulate Collins on her career since she has already announced her retirement at the end of the season. So Collins’ ferocious nature came as a surprise to her. Nevertheless, fans expressed their surprise seeing Collins’ gentle approach toward Swiatek’s compatriot. Magdalena Frech has played against Danielle Collins thrice in her career so far. Collins currently leads the H2H scoreline against Frech by 3-0. Their latest meeting came in 2023 in Austin. Since they have played against each other quite a few times now, perhaps there exists a camaraderie between them. However, fans aren’t too pleased with Frech sending love towards ‘Danimal’. He added, “Iga has always been a nice person.
