Raducanu created history in 2021 when she won the US Open as a qualifier. Alongside Coco Gauff and the world number one Iga Swiatek, the Brit sensation was regarded as the future of women’s tennis. However, 2022 hasn’t been kind to her. From frequent injuries to changes in coaching staff, Raducanu has struggled both on and off the court.
Emma Raducanu is proud of her resilience
The British tennis player in an interview with the Lifestyle magazine SheerLuxe recapped the 2022 season in detail and talked about various details on and off the court. During the interview, the 20-year-old made a surprising revelation when she talked about her resilience this year.
When the host asked her about the best highlights of the year, Raducanu said, “Professionally speaking, I’m very proud of my resilience this year. I’ve faced quite a bit of adversity and I’ve had to keep getting back up a lot. So much stuff is said about me that isn’t true, but I try not to let it affect me.” The tennis sensation discussed how many misleading tales spread online that were not factually correct, and the best part was that these fake accusations had no effect on her.
She added, “The past year has meant getting used to that side of things–the publicity and hearing all these things. I never even knew about myself! The attention on the tour is so intense.” Raducanu admitted that she enjoyed the overwhelming affection. And added that she was happy that she used this time to know herself better as an elite athlete.
