Venus Williams continues to amaze her fans even at  43 years of age. The fact that she is still competing at the highest level and putting on a fight is beyond commendable. However, with age being a massive factor, her participation is limited. But, like always, she has the backing of her family, especially her father, Richard Williams.

Along with participation, the practice sessions are also usually limited but Venus has been practicing a lot lately. She went to the Rafa Nadal Academy for a hitting sessions a few days ago. Now, another practice session clip of Venus has resurfaced on social media and there was something special about this session as fans could hear a familiar voice in the background.

Venus Williams reunited with King Richard

With the hard-court season upon us, the players have started grinding out on the cement already. While some are practicing in the lead-ups, others are doing so on the practice courts. Venus Williams’ Tiktok page, “elevenbyvenuswilliams” shared a practice clip of her hitting on the hard courts. 

However, more than the practice session, it was the conversation in the background that gained more attention. King Richard, was not visible in the video but his voice was recognizable to the fans. He said to Venus, “On the backhand, it’s unbelievable power from the backhand. On the forehand, turn show your shoulder a little bit more on the forehand.” Venus was seen implementing his advice instantly on the next clip by tweaking the forehand technique.

It was heartwrenching to see an ailing King Richard still get on the court to help out his daughter. He couldn’t convince Serena Williams to prolong her career but he is doing everything he can to keep Venus in the game.

King Richard wanted Serena Williams to play longer

Right after Serena’s retirement, King Richard admitted that he wanted her to play more. He tried to convince her and suggested that she could go for maybe a few more tournaments but the 23-time major champion had made her decision. At 41 years of age, in front of her home crowd at the US Open, Serena Williams said goodbye to the sport.

As sweet as it may have been for the fans, continuing her career in the 40s might not have turned out that well for the American. But, do you agree with Richard? Could Serena have prolonged her career?
