The former Wimbledon champion Simona Halep’s decision to file for divorce from her husband took everyone by surprise. Now, in an interesting turn of events, Halep is prepared to relocate close to the Mouratoglou Tennis Academy.

Rumors are that Halep‘s closeness with Serena Williams’ ex-coach might be the reason for her divorce. According to Orange Sport, a Romanian publication, Halep wishes to relocate permanently to Nice, France. She feels herself getting closer to the magnificent Cote d’Azur city, which serves as a major hub for rich vacations. Halep may have already disclosed to her close friends that she had been planning to take this significant move in her life after her divorce.

The tennis academy of Mouratoglou is a 35-minute drive from Nice’s city center, where Halep is planning to relocate. The sudden move near her coach’s academy may spark more controversies for the 2-time Grand Slam champion.

Last year, Toni Iuruc and Simona Halep had a legal wedding and had scheduled a religious ceremony at Casino Sinaia in Romania on November 13. On the tennis front, Halep was eliminated at the US Open in the opening round by the Ukrainian Daria Snigur.

Simona Halep had a solid season

Halep, the two-time Grand Slam champion, after her association with Serena Williams’ former coach Patrick Mouratoglou, had been gradually regaining her form on the tour. She had a solid start to the year before advancing to the fourth round of the Australian Open. She secured the Melbourne Summer title.
