WTA 250 Transylvania Open has announced its schedule for the upcoming event. The tournament will take place in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. In the 32 player competition, Emma Raducanu, Simona Halep, and Anett Kontaveit are the key players to watch out for. Moreover, there is a very high chance of Raducanu and Halep clashing at the semi-finals of the event.

However, this will be the just second tournament for Emma Raducanu after US Open 2021, where she lifted her first major Grand Slam. Subsequently, she participated at the Indian Wells but unfortunately was knocked out in her opening round itself.

Emma Raducanu likely to meet Simona Halep in the semi-finals at Transylvania Open

Just recently, Transylvania Open announced their schedule for the tournament. In a 32 players format, the tournament will stretch from 25th October to 31st October 2021. Prominent players like Simona Halep, Emma Raducanu, and Anett Kontaveit have announced their participation in the event.

Moreover, Emma Raducanu and Simona Halep are likely to encounter each other in the semi-finals of the competition. However, this will happen only if they’re victorious in the previous rounds.

Halep will be fighting against Elena-Gabriela Ruse in her opening round. Interestingly, Ruse is her fellow countrywoman, and she also partnered with her in the doubles event of Indian Wells.

On the other hand, Raducanu’s first-round opponent is Polona Hercog of Slovenia. This will be Raducanu’s second tournament after the triumph at US Open 2021. The Brit tumbled in the opening round at Indian Wells.

Raducanu and Halep’s performance at Indian Wells

After a successful run at US Open 2021, Emma Raducanu entered Indian Wells with a lot of determination. Emma Raducanu faced Aliaksandra Sasnovich in her first round. However, she registered a shocking loss in a straight-set despite leading by one point.

The Belarusian then continued her fine form as she overcame Simona Halep in the subsequent round. It took only two sets for Aliaksandra to surpass the two-time Grand Slam champion.

It will be intriguing to see how both the players approach the Transylvania Open as none of them has been in great form lately.
