Naomi Osaka has had enough, and she’s making it clear that she’s not here to play the blame game. The Japanese tennis star, known for her incredible talent and resilience, has faced her fair share of challenges this year. With a string of tough losses and setbacks, including a disappointing run at the China Open, critics have been quick to jump on her. But now, Osaka seems to be hitting back—and doing it in style.
Osaka was whisked out of the tournament after she struggled with her back while playing against Coco Gauff in the round-of-16 clash. Despite winning the first set, she decided to not put a toll on her body and decided to not continue in the match. However, what followed was a remark from the audience that seemed to anger the star player which was evident from her reaction on social media.
The Japanese sensation took to Instagram threads and slammed the spectator for the remarks. “I just saw someone call me a fluke. How is it possible to be a fluke with 4 grand slams, lighting the Olympic torch, beating multiple top 20 opponents and being close to top 50 the year after giving birth ? Foh, you couldn’t even touch one of my accomplishments with your fingernail,” Osaka wrote. As soon as her post gained traction, she witnessed immense support from her fans.

Taking to X, one user wrote, “OH GET THEM AGAIN MOTHER.” Naomi Osaka is known for her outspokenness against critics and has slammed them on various occasions. A similar scene was witnessed in March this year when a fan took a dig at her for the 2021 French Open, where Osaka opted out from meeting the press. But Osaka did not let it go.
Slamming the critic, the star player wrote, “I didn’t talk for one tournament in 2021, you seem very affected by that are you ok? Honestly lol cause why are some people still so hurt by something that happened to me 3 years ago.” This candidness was recalled by more fans.

Responding to the post, one more user joined the fray and wrote, “show me your rage naomi LETS GO.” Interestingly, Osaka has also been at the receiving end of her rage at times. She faced intense booes at the Indian Wells in 2022. While players often tend to ignore such situations, the intensity was so much that the Japanese star was left crying. This quickly garnered the attention of the tennis community with several fans and players joining in to support the player. Meanwhile, more people joined to support Osaka.

“Imagine calling one of the greatest tennis players of this generation a ‘fluke’,” a user wrote. Indeed, Osaka has won two grand slams each at the Australian Open and the US Open. She was also the torch bearer for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and has demonstrated some sensational progress this year. Despite her long hiatus owing to her pregnancy, Osaka has risen the ranks and is currently placed at 73. Hence, calling her a fluke cannot be justified.

One more user depicted similar sentiments and wrote, “get those flops queenie,” signifying that the star player must keep slamming her critics. And Osaka has just done that time and again. When questions were raised about Osaka’s career during her pregnancy, the star player was quick to point out the double standards. “Btw to the people that are suddenly concerned about my career- There are plenty of male athletes with kids that are significantly less accomplished, you might wanna worry about them instead,” she commented on the criticisms.
Yet another user highlighted the aggressive style of the player and wrote, “not Naomi back in her messy clap back era 😭 i kinda missed it.” For now, it would be interesting to see if Osaka can overcome the challenges she is facing on the courts and play yet more sensationally to win bigger.
