Eugenie Bouchard, the Canadian tennis star, had her best performance in a grand slam during the 2014 Wimbledon Championships when she reached the final. Though she failed to bring the trophy home, she became the first-ever Canadian to reach a grand slam final.

Further, she also reached the semifinals of the Australian Open and the French Open that year. Therefore, it won’t be wrong to say that Bouchard is one of Canada’s favorite tennis stars. Recently, Bouchard organized her second ‘Genie’s Pizza Party’ as a way to connect with her fans.
Eugenie Bouchard spends quality time with her fans
Bouchard has been out of the circuit for a while now owing to injuries and subsequent surgeries on her shoulder. Despite her absence from the tour, she often finds unique methods to keep in touch with her fans. Recently, she treated some local fans with pizza and wrote, “The 2nd Annual Genie’s Pizza Party was a success! Thank you, everyone, for coming out, and to Joe’s Pizza for hosting us.”

Thereafter, she asked, “Should we do these more often?!” The former World No.5 also gave autographs, and clicked pictures with her fans who thronged the pizzeria.

Bouchard stepped out of the WTA tour in 2021 after in the Guadalajara Open and the Monterrey Open. She suffered a shoulder injury in the first round of the Guadalajara Open against Caroline Dolehide. Nevertheless, she reached the final of the tournament, but failed to outclass the Spaniard, Sara Sorribes Tormo. Following that, she endured an opening round defeat in Monterrey Open and decided to undergo surgery.

When will Bouchard make her comeback?
After failing to enter Roland Garros because of her lack of match fitness, she signed up for the grass-court major. However, she withdrew from the main draw of the Wimbledon Championships as well.

The 28-year-old, to safeguard her protected ranking, chose not to make her comeback to the tour in the event. As Wimbledon had no ranking points to offer this year, the Canadian would have fallen out of the rankings regardless of her performance.

Bouchard will now look forward to the fourth and last Grand Slam of the year. She will be gearing up to further her reach in the US Open. To date, she has only reached the last 16 of the tournament.
