There has been a flurry of complaints regarding the season-ending championship in Cancun, Mexico. WTA had announced the venue just two months ago. So, the unforced errors were quite imminent in hosting such a big tournament on such short notice. Players complained about the lack of practice facilities and the uneven bounce on the court as soon as they landed in the Yucatan Peninsula. Players like Aryna Sabalenka, Iga Swiatek, and Jessica Pegula looked absolutely disappointed with the facilities provided at the venue. And now, fans have come up to their rescue with a solution. What’s it?
In addition to the problems of the court, the weather conditions also made it much worse for the players to compete at the highest level. Jessica Pegula even went on to say that she wouldn’t mind if her match gets washed off. It’s too windy here in Cancun for the last few days for a tennis match to go on. During her match in the group stages, a girl was even seen struggling to hold on to an umbrella over Pegula, it was so windy out there! Seeing that fans advised Jessica Pegula to flex her muscles.

Fans have funny advice for Jessica Pegula before the WTA Finals kick off next year
Seeing the struggle of the players in Cancun, fans jokingly asked Pegula to organize the event from next time, since she’s so rich. Jessica Pegula is in fact the daughter of Kim Pegula and Terry Pegula, a multibillionaire owner of the Buffalo Bills (football) and Buffalo Sabres (hockey) franchises. Terry Pegula made a fortune in the oil and gas industry before moving on to the ever-growing sports industry. He even has a sports company named Pegula Sports & Entertainment. With a net worth close to $ 10B, fans are not too much out of the line while coming up with such advice.
To a post where even the umbrella was seen struggling to stay on top of Pegula, fans replied hilariously. One of them advised her to bring her Rolls Royce once.

But the tournament is far from over for the 29-year-old American. She’s in stunning form right now and defeated Maria Sakkari of Greece by a 6-3,6-2 margin earlier today. With already securing more than $250,000 in the bag, how much more awaits for the American? We’ll wait and see.

The oldest player on the field in the season-ending tournament is on an unbeaten run in the group stages. Pegula reached the last four without dropping a set. She had a winless run last year at the WTA Finals debut. To make a comeback this year and outclass others is quite a remarkable achievement. In her group stage match against the Greek, she took advantage of 35 unforced errors including 8 double faults. Sakkari was already out of contention for the semis before the match but this match was quite vital for the rank 5 in women’s tennis.
