Gauff has continued to make strides in her career, establishing herself as a formidable force on the WTA tour. She has notched up multiple titles and climbed up the rankings, all while maintaining a level of maturity and composure well beyond her years.
Everyone including Chris Evert was expecting Gauff to win a Grand Slam soon after she defeated Venus Williams. However, that has not happened to her yet. In an interview with Reuters, Chris Evert said, “When I saw her play at 15 years old at Wimbledon and beat Venus Williams I for sure thought by now she would have won a major”.
Further, she also talked about how not winning a major can turn out to be a good thing for her in time. She added, “It’s probably better for her because it’s not happening overnight, she’s not a flash in the pan. She’s just going gradually on her path in a slower way. I think that’s going to benefit her in the long run.”
As she returns to Wimbledon, the site of her initial breakthrough, expectations are high for the young American. Tennis enthusiasts eagerly await her performance, hoping to witness the fulfillment of her undeniable potential.
