In the ending days of her tennis career, Kournikova was going through a rough phase. The Russian was performing poorly on the tour. While playing in the Wimbledon Championship of 2002, she lost her first-round match. Later, the way she behaved with the interviewer Gary Richardson made John Lloyd really angry.
Lloyd, who was sitting in the studio as one of the expert panelists, straight away criticized the Russian. Here’s what he said. “Come on, she’s got to grow up.” He further added, “I think she was thinking maybe it would be like a movie and say, ‘Cut,’ and she knew it was live. She’s had more TV cameras in her face than I’ve had hot dinners, “And she should be able to handle that.”
