Talk about Coco Gauff being just 19 years old and one can hardly believe it. Such has been the authority with which the American teen sensation has stepped onto the court. Gauff is having one of the best seasons of her tennis career, rising to World Number 3 in singles. Additionally, she is dominant on the doubles circuit too, being placed in the seventh spot. The former French Open finalist is fresh from winning her second title this year. She has a new member on her team to thank for her success.
Just before the Citi Open in Washington, Gauff joined hands with experienced coach Brad Gilbert. The partnership tasted instant success as Gauff went on to win the WTA 500 tournament. Recently, Gilbert cited an interesting reason behind their success.

The American tennis coach is currently in Toronto where he talked about his bonding with Gauff. Opening up about the instant success while mentoring the 19-year-old tennis star, Gilbert said, “I’ve got girls that are 31 [Julian] and 26 [Zoe].”
Further, he went on to explain how his daughters influenced his relationship with Gauff. Talking about this, Gilbert said, “I think I might have talked to them when they were 19.” He went on to use the analogy about his strong bonding with his daughters that helped him mentor Gauff with ease.
Sounding high on Gauff, Gilbert revealed, “She’s got a heart of gold and wants to get better — that’s your goal as a tennis player.” Ahead of the US Open, Gauff is looking for a strong favorite to win her maiden Grand Slam title. She is currently in Canada where she’s playing in the WTA 1000 National Bank Open.

Gauff off to a winning start in Montreal
Yesterday, the 19-year-old sensation produced a magnificent performance in the round-of-32 of the Canadian Open. Having received a bye in the opening round, Gauff defeated Great Britain’s Katie Boulter in straight sets 6-2, 6-2. The American required just an hour and 13 minutes to overcome the challenge of Boulter.

In the next round, Gauff will take on Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova. It promises to be a mouth-watering contest, given that both of them are in prime form.
