Sascha Bajin, during his exclusive interview with EssentiallySports, was asked how he and his former player Naomi Osaka, who confessed to having bouts of depression, won the Australian Open 2019. Bajin answered saying that there exist two types of people. One kind gets satisfied after tasting success and the other kind that likes its taste and seeks to taste it again and again. This was all said, suggesting Osaka was one of those people who desire success repeatedly.
The coach tells us motivation was never an issue for the former World No. 1 and that he did not need to work on that aspect. He stated, “She was very hungry” and she went straight back to work after she won her first Grand Slam at the US Open. He later said he had asked Osaka “Hey, what time you wanna practice?” just after she won her Grand Slam in the controversial 2018 US Open final. She replied that she was ready.

When asked about if Osaka was still hungry, he replied that he cannot comment because he is not in contact with her anymore and that he hopes that she is motivated. This question came in light due to her previous depression bout and her recently announced pregnancy.
Sascha Bajin, after he was asked if Osaka could bounce back into form considering she recently announced being pregnant, answered that she does have the ability to bounce back. He mentioned the process of returning to form takes a lot of work, but on the bright side he exclaimed that she is still young and gifted.

That gift being her body, shots and the speed with which she moves around court, all allowing her to return to the court in form. He stated that having the right people around is crucial for her, and he finally concluded stating that she could definitely do it, but it would not be easy.
Naomi Osaka certainly does not have it easy. Aside from having to cope with pregnancy, which has derailed the careers of so many sportswomen, she has to stay from depression, which has affected her in the past.
