In a show called, Jazzy’s World Tv, Serena Williams was asked about her biggest idol. Who was the one who inspired her the most? How much impact did the person have on her success? As expected, without batting an eyelid, she took her sister’s name.

Serena said, “Oh my god. My role model has always been my sister. She was older than me. She was great and she was fun. She was amazing. And she was such a great older sister. I was the younger sister so I did everything, literally everything Venus did. She was definitely my role model.”

Born just 15 months apart, they were introduced to tennis at a very young age by their father, Richard Williams. Growing up in Compton, California, the sisters spent countless hours training on public courts. Their close-knit bond and passion culminated in an indomitable presence on the court.

In the year 2015, Serena Williams beat Venus Williams in the US Open tournament to reach the semifinals. After losing to her sister, Venus shared with The Guardian how winning the calendar slam would be huge for not just Serena but also for her. Even though she had lost her own chance at the title, she did not hesitate to hope that her younger sister wins it all.

Venus also added that Serena is the best ever because of the level of competition she has faced. She also added that even though losing is not fun for her, seeing Serena have a chance to win four majors makes her happy. This huge compliment, coming from Venus, truly shows how wonderful a cheerleader Serena has in her big sister.
