‘She Must Take Her Punishment’- Simona Halep’s Doping Case Put Chris Evert on the Receiving End of Criticism From Tennis Fans

When it comes to tennis, fairness, and integrity is something that keeps the spirit of the game alive. Should one fail to comply, there are certain punishments that they get. The same thing happened with Simona Halep, the Romanian professional tennis player after she was handed a 4-year ban from the sport. It was due to some abnormalities in her biological passport that resulted in the verdict.

Since then, Halep has been trying to prove her innocence to the court. However, amidst the tough times, the Romanian star got a ray of hope after tennis legend Chris Evert joined hands as she sent a heartfelt message to her. However, the message did not seem to go well with the fans who came ahead and disapproved of the statement that Evert made.

Fans come ahead as they seem to slam Simona Halep as Chris Evert extends her support

In a recent revelation, Chris Evert came ahead and suggested she hopes that Halpe should come out of the court innocent in February when her trial to the court has been scheduled. However, the fans did not seem to have liked the statements made by the American legend. One fan came ahead and suggested that Halep shouldn’t have taken the substances. Now she had, it is her responsibility and she must take the lesson.

“She shouldn’t have been taking that substance…ultimately it’s her responsibility…she must take her punishment and learn a lesson,” said the fan.

Another fan came ahead and suggested that her support for Halep was not good. Since the substance was found in her body, she is guilty. He further went ahead to add that it is as crazy as suggesting that your dog ate the homework, which is very childish.

The next fan came in and completely seemed to have disagreed with Evert while suggesting that you can’t blame others. Since it was her using it, she had to take the blame. “Disagree. The buck has to stop at the athlete. Can’t blame others. Too easy,” said the fan.

This fan came in and suggested that the reports that came did not suggest that it was an accidental usage by the player. He then went ahead to add that it would not be worth it to discredit the rules of the anti-doping institutions.

Last but not least, this fan did not seem to have agreed with Evert at all and suggested that it wasn’t an excuse at all. “Thats no excuse,” said the fan who showed his disapproval of Evert’s remarks.

Thus, the statement by Chris Evert did not seem to have been liked much by the fans. While the fans suggested that it was Halep’s responsibility to know what she had been consuming, Evert suggested that her coaching staff should take responsibility for it.

Taking things further, one fan came ahead and suggested that Halep should have taken full responsibility for it and suggested that Evert is very wrong on this matter. However, the fan wished her a speedy recovery as well. Responding to his statement, Evert came ahead and sparked her own opinion.

While fans from all around the world responded to her statement, one fan came ahead and suggested that people should ahead and take full responsibility for their actions. Out of the blue, Evert came ahead and had an answer to this statement.

She suggested that it is true that one should be responsible for putting anything inside his body, she is highly hopeful that Simona Halep did not know about the whole scenario. Not only this, she also said that she assumes that her faith, trust, and her lack of knowledge in the matter got her under these circumstances.

“Faith and trust in others, naivety……I’m just reiterating I don’t think she knew….and yes, you are responsible for what you put in your own body…,” she said.
