Emma Raducanu is gracing the tennis courts after a long hiatus, and the anticipation is palpable. After months away from the game, Raducanu is sharpening her skills and steeling her nerves for the upcoming tournaments of the season. Meanwhile, she has received some remarkable advice from Bianca Andreescu, as she gears up for her season ahead.

The 21-year-old has not been seen on the tennis courts since April this year until she made a comeback at the Nottingham Open. Raducanu had missed most of her season in 2023 as well following a wrist injury, for which she had a minor procedure done on both hands, as well as an ankle. While her comeback match was nothing but a portrayal of her healthy return, advice has started pouring in for the British star with Bianca Andreescu sharing some tips.

During the latest episode of The Tennis Podcast, the 2019 US Open winner offered some solid advice to Emma. She spoke about her 2021 US Open final match against Leylah Fernandez. Acknowledging that such situations are tough to handle, Andreescu emphasized that they help a player grow. “I was watching and then also having Leylah in the final I thought that was incredible. But yeah, it’s it’s just a tough position to be in at such a young age having so much attention on you. But it does, it does help you grow much faster.”

She further shared in the discussion that such moments are unique and one should cherish them. “And it helps you realize that you really have to savor those moments because you never know when it’ll happen again.” Talking about if she could give a suggestion to the British sensation, Andreescu claimed that Raducanu is a mature player but suggested that she could savor some great moments.

I feel like what I could have maybe told her is and I mean, she knows her s**t, she’s a very mature person she won the US Open, so it’s more like savoring the moment and not taking advantage of it basically.”

The Canadian star player further advised to not get extremely affected by the attention and use it for your betterment. “Using it to your advantage using it for good and not for like you know, self-gratification.” This suggestion might turn out to be extremely crucial for Emma, who had witnessed extreme difficulties in the past.

When Emma Raducanu regretted winning the US Open

In 2021, Raducanu became the first qualifier ever to win a Grand Slam title at the US Open. However, she faced difficulties in coping with the pressure and scrutiny that followed. This ultimately made her wish to have not won the Grand Slam.  In a conversation with The Sunday Times, she confessed this feeling. “I sometimes think to myself I wish I’d never won the US Open,” the Brit said.

Raducanu admitted that she had the best moment after winning the US Open. After the win, she infact promised herself to face everything that comes her way. However, she acknowledged that the process is not easy to achieve. “I am resilient, my tolerance is high, but it’s not easy.” 

While Emma Raducanu has not been on an impressive journey almost since her win Grand Slam win in 2021, the 21-year-old is attempting to outshine her previous performances as she prepares for the grass-court Grand Slam.
