Venus Williams finally did it after four years of patience, injuries, determination, and hard work. The American champion won her first Top 20 win after her quarter-final run at the Western and Southern Open in 2019. Coincidentally, the same tournament made it happen for her again. The 43-year-old won her first-round match at Cincinnati earlier today.
Queen Vee was delighted to achieve an incredible win in her home country. But she hoped for one more thing to happen that day. The world would have gone crazy if that came true. She remembered the person she loved most and wished how wonderful it would be to celebrate the win together.

The seven-time Grand Slam champion bagged the win against Veronika Kudermetova, the 16th seed in singles. Queen Vee won in straight sets, 6-4, 5-7, treating the audience to a Vintage Venus game. In the post-match interview, the former world number one expressed how happy the sisters would be if Serena Williams watched the match live.
A reporter in the post-match conference was keen to know whether the legendary sisters had gotten an opportunity to connect. So he asked Venus if Serena reached out to her after the win. The two times US Open champion said, “Yeah, she texted me after. She had a lot of encouraging words to say.”
Venus continued, “She just is encouraging me to, you know, just to rise to be my best because she believes in me, and she knows what I have inside of me. It’s nice to have obviously her because she knows, and she knows what position I’m in and what it’s like to be in this position.” The elder Williams sister said that Serena always believed in her as she gears up for her next match.

The Olympic Gold winner further said that Serena knows about her capabilities and that she feels nice to have her sister believe in her. Venus said, “She knows what it’s like to have something to give, but, like, you just need that opportunity. So it’s nice that she believes in me.” With the injuries that Venus sustained, it was impossible to even think about playing a match, let alone professional tennis.

But who are we kidding? It is Queen Venus, and she can make anything happen. America’s most celebrated champion will play the winner of Quinwen Zheng Vs. Aliaksandra Sasnovich tie-up. While Zheng is playing her first round in the tournament, Sasnovich played two qualifier matches to enter the tournament.
