In 2021, Leylah Fernandez and Emma Raducanu met at Arthur Ashe Stadium, for the US Open trophy. Under stringent Covid-19 protocol, the Brit claimed her first Major. Since then, tennis fans have anticipated a strong performance from the young British tennis star; however, Raducanu is yet to shut the critics with her volleys.

However, there was another co-incident that tennis fans observed during the US Open. The Canadian, Fernandez, had to crush many seasoned and experienced players en route to the finale with the Brit. And all the players she got past have been unable to play due to some reason or the other.

The list of players, in addition to Raducanu, includes the Japanese Naomi Osaka, Angelique Kerber, Elina Svitolina, and Aryna Sabalenka.

After the US Open 2021, Osaka opened up about her depression to the media, and since then there has been a downward trend in her performance. Furthermore, Kerber and Svitolina announced the news of their pregnancies. And Sabalenka too had a light performance for some time, after the match with the Canadian.

The most talked about performance slump, which has taken tennis fans by shock, was that of the Brit, Raducanu. Although off-court, Raducanu has been involved in various ventures. But many fans consider the former world no. 10 a one-hit-wonder.

And the common link between the players was that they played against the Canadians at the US Open 2021. And fans took the occasion to take a dig at the Canadian.

One tennis fan took to voodoo for a plausible explanation, “ain’t heard of cami since them damn lights went off in monterray aswell. Leylahvoodo is strong”

While another Twitter user wasn’t far away from the earlier responded and Tweeted, “I’ve often said she hexes her enemies!”

And like the many other Tweets, the tennis fans didn’t spare the 20-year-old, as they called her, “Leylah the Career Destroyer”  

While a fan sided with Aryna Sabalenka and said, “It was bad for her…”

And the list goes on. Currently, the Canadian tennis star is ranked as world no.40, while Raducanu’s ranking has taken a much worse turn. As the Brit is currently the world no. 75.

Undoubtedly, the former world no.10, Raducanu would hope to turn the tide in her favor.
