17 Years After Brutal Indian Wells Humiliation, Serena Williams Received Her Life’s Greatest Tribute From Husband Alexis Ohanian Back in 2018

Alexis Ohanian and Serena Williams are a power couple, certainly in the world of tennis. Both have established their names as legends in their respective fields. Ohanian, having co-founded Reddit, and Williams, being a 23-time Grand Slam champion, are highly successful individuals, to say the least. Despite having separate ventures, the two know how to be a couple with the right priorities. A glimpse of this was shown in a docuseries about Serena Williams, where Ohanian used his witty wordplay to uplift his wife.

Alexis Ohanian and Serena Williams got hitched in 2017 and had their daughter Olympia in the same year. Williams, after her retirement, handles her ventures that invest in women founders, persons of color, and people from underserved communities. Ohanian, after co-founding Reddit and leaving the social media platform, has opened his own investment venture called the Seven Seven Six foundation.

In 2018, Williams came back to tennis after going through a difficult childbirth. Complications during and after the delivery had put Williams on rest from professional tennis. Ohanian, being the proactive husband, was quick to  help his wife. On her way to the tournament, Williams saw several billboards that called her the ‘Greatest Mother of All Time’ and had pictures of her with baby Olympia.

Williams talked about her husband’s effort in the show ‘Being Serena’. “I knew going there this year was definitely going to feel different. But I didn’t know about the surprise Alexis had put up. With a six-month-old baby, I’m surely not the GMOAT, greatest mother of all time. But the billboards worked. They made me smile, and they were a good reminder of how much has changed in my life since the last time I was here,” Williams said.

Ohanian knows his wife very well and knows just how to lift her mood. Williams did not win a major after having Olympia. However, she did make it to the final of two Wimbledon Championships and two US Open.
