The turn of this year proved to be a shocker for 66-year-old tennis legend, Martina Navratilova. Earlier this year, the 18-time Grand Slam singles champion revealed that she was diagnosed with multiple cancers. One of them was stage 1 throat cancer and the other was breast cancer. Although in their early stages, it was a double blow for one of the greatest players the sport has seen. Additionally, the treatment required was exhaustive and taxing, having to recover from two cancers.
Recently, Martina sat down with her wife to reveal that she is cancer-free. Opening up on the good news, she also gave details of her pain-staking cancer treatment. Here’s what she said.

The former World Number One tennis player put on a relieved look as she gave a brief interview to Good Morning Britain with her wife by her side. Opening up on her diagnosis, Martina said, “So I was diagnosed early December and I finally got all-clear three weeks ago. So it really has been seven months of hell emotionally and physically.”
She also went on to praise her wife for all the support shown during her cancer treatment. Talking about this, she said, “Julia was amazing, helping me throughout the treatment, particularly in New York this seven weeks of proton.” Navratilova also added that despite her wife shooting for The Real Housewives, she took time for her during her cancer treatment.

The tennis legend also opened up about her post-cancer state, saying, “I lost about 25 pounds, you know, very slender now, but it’s been very difficult, but cancer-free now, knock on wood.”
