In a conversation with the NFL star, Justin Truck earlier this month, Ohanian revealed that he didn’t even have an appreciation for the lives led by professional athletes until he began dating Serena Williams. The couple got married on November 16, 2017, and ever since then, Ohanian has never missed a chance to stand by Serena. Remember the time Alexis Ohanian commissioned a series of billboards to be set up in Palm Springs, to welcome Serena back to competition following an incredibly arduous maternity leave? Or when he swept her off to Venice because she mentioned that some pasta might be nice? Then how can we forget the 2021 Australian Open?

In the quarterfinal of the tournament, Serena had defeated Simona Halep to advance to the semifinals with Naomi Osaka. Ohanian, wore a statement T-shirt, which he selected after asking his followers to pick their favorite option, to show his support. The shirt featured a photo of Williams with the words “GREATEST FEMALE ATHLETE” featured prominently. Most interestingly, the word “female” was crossed out to vouch for the widely held belief that Serena Williams is simply the greatest athlete of all time. But it was not that simple only.

At that point of time, the debate on the greatest athlete of all time had just reignited online after Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady took home his seventh Super Bowl win. Many were quick to call the NFL legend the “G.O.A.T.” or “Greatest Of All Time” after the win, while others instantly reverted back reminding that Williams has 23 Grand Slam singles titles. The T-shirt was Ohanian’s way of letting his stand known in the debate. Yes, such outspoken the man has been to stand by his legendary wife.

But as everyone would agree, it can not be one-sided. The whole point of a relationship is searching for that partnership where each half truly believes that they’re getting the better end of the deal. And if Ohanian has done his bits, Serena has done the other half as well. Recently, Alexis Ohanian appeared at the ‘Thanalysis Show’ podcast hosted by Thanasis Antetokounmpo, where he was seen speaking about growing up as a “random kid” who eventually began to get recognition after co-founding Reddit.

He also shared a bit about how Serena Williams supported him in his journey. Speaking on his incredible understanding with his wife, Ohanian said, “Obviously at some point, I start talking to my wife. Then obviously we get engaged, we get married. And then, more and more people are like, ‘Oh hey, like, say ‘hi’ to Serena for me.’ One conversation I’ve never had to have in this relationship has been defending or justifying why I need to do something for my career. I still want to be a better partner. I want to be a better dad and be the best at what I do. And she understands that better than anybody.”

However, this wasn’t the first time that we’ve heard him heaping praise on Serena Williams’ invaluable contributions in helping him become who he is today. As Alexis Ohanian had pointed out in an essay published on Glamour on Valentine’s Day, 2019, “It helps that my wife and I both know what it takes to be successful and bring that mutual understanding, drive and relentless to the table.” Both Serena Williams and her entrepreneur husband epitomize a power couple.
