Serena Williams’ husband, Alexis Ohanian, is a trailblazer in the business community. Although he has numerous ventures to his name, the most significant achievement on his resume is perhaps that he co-founded Reddit in 2005. The platform achieved major success lately, issuing an Initial Public Offering and its shares will be listed today.

It was a turning point in the social media giant’s history, something which even Serena Williams acknowledged. She took to her official X handle full of praise for her husband, saying, In 2005  @alexisohanian had an idea to start an online community. That idea became Reddit and today is its IPO Alexis I am so proud of you as a business man, My man and a dad. Congrats on your IPO! It’s crazy to know you have even bigger things you are doing.”

It was a highly-anticipated IPO, becoming the first social media offering since 2019, and Reddit priced it at $34 per share. It valued the social media giant at around $6.5 Billion. Although it has been a dry spell for the IPOs of late, investors have been closely monitoring this offering ever since it was announced.

As the shares get listed on the New York Stock Exchange, all eyes are on Alexis Ohanian. However, he opted out of a major Reddit event ahead of its debut.

Why did Serena Williams’ husband miss a Reddit event?

The Reddit co-founder and Serena Williams’ husband, Alexis Ohanian, has given his all to the company that he founded almost a decade ago. However, ahead of a big day for his company, he decided to opt out of a Reddit event for his family. Indeed, Ohanian is a true family man and he decided to be with his daughter instead of going to New York for Reddit’s listing.

In an update to his fans on his official Twitter handle, Alexis Ohanian wrote, “Everyone asking if I’m going to NY for the @reddit IPO — it’s my daughter’s Spring Break so I’ll be taking her and the girls on holiday.”

According to several reports, Reddit IPO is indicated to open up to a 35% premium of its issue price. This will come as a major boost to the investors, who were hoping for a good performance from Reddit despite a dry IPO season. It signifies the years of hard work that Serena Williams’ husband has put into this company.
