Serena Williams stays unbothered by Kendrick Lamar's diss—Is she the queen of cool or what?

Serena Williams rocks! And this time, it’s not just on the court. The legendary tennis icon Serena Williams continues to dominate the tennis world, even after hanging up her racquet. Her impact on the sport is as powerful as ever, as fans around the globe celebrate her influence. As she made her grand return to the US Open—this time as a spectator—Serena’s sassy spirit was on full display. Joyful, radiant, and unapologetically herself, she proved that even from the stands, she was still the queen of the court.

The tennis legend was spotted at the courts of Flushing Meadows for the first time after hanging up her racquets in 2022. The legendary tennis player wasn’t in attendance last year, after she gave birth to her second daughter Adira, in August. But she made a sizzling return to the hardcourts this year. In a video shared earlier by the official Instagram page of the US Open, Williams could be seen in blue denim skirt and a jacket as she posed for the paparazzi.

She was also spotted watching Jannik Sinner take over Christopher O’Connell in the third round. But what caught the attention of the fans was the joyful nature of Williams as she was seen vibing on the background music that was playing at the Arthur Ashe Stadium. Interestingly, the song was “Not Like Us” by American rapper Kendrick Lamar, for which Williams has depicted immense love in the past as well.

Speaking at the Essence Festival, the tennis legend called the song a “jam” and crowned the Drake diss track as the “hit of the summer.” “I love that song. It’s like the hit of the summer,” she said. “When they play that jam, I’m jamming. That jam is jamming,” As the song played at the Arthur Ashe Stadium, Williams was not just lipsyncing the song, but also waving her hands as she looked engrossed by the match, as well as the song.

The 23-time Grand Slam champion has often captured headlines for her dancing skills. Williams amazed and exhilarated her fans after winning the 2012 Olympic Gold medal. But what made her fans more happy back then was the C-Walk she performed. This dance involves the movement of the feet, classically to the spelling of C-R-I-P. It was usually used by Crips at parties to display affiliation.

Serena Williams’ ex-coach shares the resilient side of the star player

Serena Williams made it to the summit clash of the 2015 French Open and was due to face Lucie Safarova in the final. However, destiny seemed to be harsh on her, as prior to the final, she was down with flu and had a severe body ache. The former World Number 1 even considered pulling out of the match but eventually decided to give it her all in the summit clash. Not only did she win the contest but also pulled off a stunning win. This win is remembered by her former coach Patrick Mouratoglou even after nine years.

Speaking about the win, the coach termed it as the most impressive moment in sporting history. “When you see what she’s capable of during that tournament, she makes things impossible become possible. That’s why she is who she is,” Mouratoglou said.

As Serena enjoyed herself in the stands today, her presence created a real buzz at the US Open, which, apart from entertaining the fans, would also, most certainly, have motivated the players on show.
