Serena Williams’ love for music has always struck a chord with fans, and this time, the tennis legend is hitting all the right notes again! Known for her incredible on-court dominance and off-court charisma, Williams has never been shy about showing her passion for music. Now, she’s got a serious case of fangirl fever! The latest announcement from the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival has Williams buzzing with excitement—and for good reason. Her all-time favorite band, Green Day, is set to hit the iconic stage, and it seems like Serena is already planning her trip to Indio.

The music festival released its official flyer on Tuesday, November 19, and detailed the key highlights of the event, where imminent singers and bands like Lady Gaga, Post Malone, Travis Scott, and Green Day got the biggest slots. Williams, meanwhile, could not be happier over the announcement who has often expressed her love for the Billie Joe Armstrong-led band.

The 43-year-old rushed to social media to share the update on her Instagram story and highlighted that she would definitely be present at the event which is scheduled for April next year. Captioning the story, Williams wrote, “I know where I’ll be @greenday” expressing her joy over the news. Remember, the 23-time Grand Slam winner has often reflected her admiration for the brand and has been seen attending their concerts.

Williams was invited to introduce the band ahead of a performance to celebrate their 30-year anniversary in February this year. She called herself a “mascot” of the band, highlighting how big of a fan she is. In her speech, she further called the band “My literally favorite band of all time,” adding “Truly, to know me is to know my love for them,” per Forbes. She was also spotted in the pit during Green Day’s recent tour in September this year, as she danced her heart out along with several other fans.

Notably, Serena Williams is also in possession of a guitar signed by Billie Joe Armstrong, Tre Cool, and Mike Dirnt. And interestingly, the band has also reciprocated her love, highlighting how the presence of the tennis great during their concerts mesmerizes them as they detailed a special request that Williams makes often.

When Green Day band member revealed Serena Williams’ special request

Serena Williams has passionately expressed her love for Green Day. But very few would know that she even tried to finish her tennis matches early to just go and watch the band performing on stage. This fact was even admitted by Armstrong, who also detailed the special request that Williams often made to them.

In an interview earlier this year, Armstrong revealed, “We would run into her in different countries in Europe because she was kicking everybody’s a– in that particular country! She would come to the show –she would literally try to see how fast she could beat her opponent so she could actually come to the gig!” Continuing further, he shared that she always made requests to listen to a special song that the band curated.

She would end up showing up and always ask us to play the song, Disappearing Boy, which was a song that we wrote years ago. She’s great – one of the sweetest people,” he added. Now, as Williams gears up to visit her favorite band’s performance again, it would be interesting to see how she exudes her fangirl side.
