Iga Swiatek is back at the top of the world! The 22-year-old tennis player continued on her path to achieve another victory as she seized the perfect opportunity to win the WTA Finals. After quelling Jessica Pegula’s hope of winning the year-end tournament, Swiatek ended the season in her best form and position in the tennis world.

Iga Swiatek was the talk of the WTA Finals this year, winning every match and securing the title as her ultimate objective. After claiming the title, she also surpassed a record that was created by the 23-time Grand Slam champion, leaving no stone unturned while giving her best. While giving tough competition to the set of players participating in the tournament, Swiatek won 11 games to complete her title run.

Along with that, she shattered the previous record of work created by other WTA players since the event switched to a round-robin format in 2003. The world number one dropped just 20 games across her five matches, creating a stand for herself above tennis stars like Serena Williams, Justine Henin, and Caroline Wozniacki.

When Williams set a record of 32 games in 2012, Swiatek rose up to the frame and toppled her with 12 more games. Although breaking the record created by the 42-year-old American tennis legend is not that easy, the Pole took every chance and surpassed her with a margin of 12 games, which in itself is a huge achievement.

When Swiatek stamped her authority as a Williams successor

The American tennis legend, throughout her tennis career, has achieved several accomplishments that once seemed impossible to break. But since the 22-year-old Polish entered the tennis arena, she has proved how records are meant to be broken. 2022 and 2023 have given some tough competition to the Pole but also helped her create a lifetime record.

She became the only player, after Serena Williams, to have multiple seasons with more than 20 victories in straight sets after winning the China Open this year. However, the 23-time Grand Slam champion won numerous seasons in WTA thousand events to accomplish this amazing feat back in 2013 and 2014. With the way Iga is progressing, it is safe to say that she is not passing up any opportunity to be the best on the tennis court.
