The city of Los Angeles experienced a blast as the auspicious ESPYs Awards commenced at the Dolby Theatre! Besides the rising athletes who were the highlight of the show, former WTA pro Serena Williams shone as the host. She took center stage with a microphone in hand, ready to bowl over the audience with her humorous side. But given her bold personality and the required roasting from a host, she referred to the infamous Drake/ Kendrick Lamar feud!

The evening of 11th July was set on fire as Serena Williams, who recently finished the promotional schedule of her docuseries, filled the ESPYs with glamour. The event which aired on ABC, was targeted to celebrate the top moments in sports from the past year.

As the glamorous host carried on the show, there came a moment when she decided to troll famous rapper Kendrick Lamar on his diss feud with Drake. She said, “And if I’ve learned anything this year, not a single one of us, not even me, should ever pick a fight with Kendrick Lamar.” Her comment got the audience laughing, especially as she danced to ‘Not Like Us’ playing in the background.

“He will make your hometown not like you, the next time Drake sits courtside at a Raptors game, they’re gonna Forest Gump him, seats taken.”

Kendrick Lamar and Drake’s feud went up a notch this year – it all began when J Cole called them the “big three” of hip-hop. The rappers disagreed and a sequence of diss tracks continued, with insults between them becoming more personal, also including Serena Williams herself, or more accurately, her husband.

Earlier this year, Serena Williams’ husband and Reddit co-owner Alexis Ohanian also joined the conversation. Duolingo shared a post featuring its character dancing to the open diss track BBLDRIZZY. Alexis found it quite hilarious and therefore responded humorously, saying, “Not DUO too!!”

Drake and Serena Williams were rumored to be dating in the early 2010s and later part of the decade saw the drama reach a boiling point. But while the former WTA pro openly praised Lamar, numerous other names fell under her troll radar!

Serena Williams was not short on jokes during her hosting session at the ESPYs. Besides covering her friends like Meghan Markle and the Duke of Sussex, it was the sports stars’ turn. LeBron James’ son Bronny experienced a massive achievement by earning the opportunity to play alongside his father in the Los Angeles Lakers. Appreciating the rising star for his massive feat in a unique way, the tennis legend cracked a joke on LeBron’s hairstyle.

“He (Bronny) got drafted to the Lakers where he will play with his dad, and I truly hope Bronny has a long career, so long that we will see his hairline will recede then miraculously un-recede like (his) dad,” she said, filling up the Dolby Theatre with echoes of laughter.

Besides just being a big name in the world of sports and fashion, Serena Williams proved that she can be good at several other roles as well. With her anchor gig, the auspicious events will now have a new contender to choose.
