The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, is all set to launch her new Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, on March 4. Just a few days ago, she treated her fans with an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the show through a video clip on her IG account. In that clip, she was spotted dancing in her kitchen while baking. Now, a couple of days later, her close friend, Serena Williams, takes the excitement levels surrounding this mega event to its peak by joining Markle to celebrate her big Netflix move.

Serena Williams and Meghan Markle first met each other at the Super Bowl in 2010, and since then, their friendship has grown stronger with every year. Markle was often spotted attending Williams’ matches, and even the tennis star was in attendance at Markle’s royal wedding to Prince Harry. Despite their busy schedules, they have found ways to cherish each other’s glorious moments in the last few years, and now, Williams was spotted joining Markle and family to celebrate yet another big occasion in her life.

Meghan Markle recently shared an IG story where Serena Williams was spotted playing with Markle’s kid, Princess Lilibet. She captioned that picture with, “When the aunties come to celebrate…and to play! Love you @serenawilliams.” The tennis star also shared that post on her story with the caption, “❤️🥰.”

And then, in the second IG story, Markle was seen joining them in the same frame, and she captioned that one with, “3 days until the party begins. All are invited @netflix.” Later on, Serena Williams also shared an IG story in which she was seen hugging and congratulating the Duchess of Sussex.

The Netflix series was set to be released two months ago. However, later on, it got postponed to March 4 due to the Los Angeles Wildfire. During that time, Meghan Markle said, “I’m thankful to my partners at Netflix for supporting me in delaying the launch, as we focus on the needs of those impacted by the wildfires in my home state of California.” 

Markle’s love for cooking is not an unknown fact. Previously, during an interview, she said, “You know I’ve always loved cooking and crafting and gardening. This is what I do.” In a previous interview with PEOPLE, one of her friends revealed, “Meg cooks for herself and Harry every day. She made the most delicious meals. She made tea every day. How much she loves feeding you and taking care of you, that hasn’t changed.“

Interestingly, this wasn’t the first time that we’ve seen Serena Williams showing her support to the mother of two (Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet) for her incredible passion for cooking. In 2018, Markle launched a cookbook named Together. It was her first independent project as a royal.

Speaking on this incredible milestone, Williams had then shared a tweet stating, “I used to call you Meghan (and I still do) but dear Duchess of Sussex your first project ‘Together’ a cookbook bringing women of all cultures together. I could not be more excited about it and proud of you. It’s beautiful — diversity, inclusivity, coming together in grief and joy.” Just like Williams, the Duchess of Sussex has been one of the strongest pillars of support in the tennis star’s life.

Taking a glimpse at the strong bond between Serena Williams and Meghan Markle

In one of her popular blogs, The Tig, Meghan Markle shared details about her first impression of Serena Williams. She said she was like, “When Serena Williams barrelled in my direction this past February at an event, nails done, hair done, everything did, I’ll be honest and say I looked behind me to see who she was running to…” Both of them were in attendance at the New Orleans Saints match against the Indianapolis Colts at Super Bowl XLIV.

After that meeting, Markle revealed that she used to text Williams while traveling and even visit her matches during her playing days, but what really got them going since their first meeting? “We are both the same age, have a penchant for hot sauces, and adore fashion, but what connects us more than those things is perhaps our belief in exceeding expectations — our endless ambition,” said Meghan Markle.

In 2014, both of them were spotted in a single frame multiple times, and then a year later, Markle was seen celebrating Serena Williams’ AO triumph with a heartfelt post on her X handle. Later on, when Williams teamed up with HSN to present her eponymous fashion line’s fall Signature Statement Collection at NY Fashion Week, Meghan Markle was among the first ones to show her support for the tennis star. Then in 2017, when Williams was pregnant with her first child, Markle penned a heartfelt note to her close friend.

She said, “She will be an amazing mom. The very best, because she is so attuned to balancing strength and sensitivity.” Remember the time when Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s relationship went public? She faced quite a lot of scrutiny from around the world. At that time, her friend, Serena Williams, stood beside her and advised her, “You’ve got to be who you are, Meghan. You can’t hide.‘” Markle and Harry got married in 2018, and a few months later, she was spotted attending the Williams’ Wimbledon match along with her sister-in-law Kate Middleton in the royal box.

Talking about their incredible support through thick and thin, Markle was even spotted wearing a blazer from Serena Williams‘ clothing line in 2018. Speaking about their friendship, Williams once said, “She couldn’t be a better friend to me.
