Since last month, Serena Williams is making the headlines with her much-awaited comeback to tennis. Last year, she suffered a hamstring injury at Wimbledon that forced her to miss the remainder of the 2021 season and the start of this season. After being away from tennis for around a year, the American legend announced her comeback plans during the grass-court season.

Serena teamed up with Ons Jabeur to play in the Eastbourne International to warm up for the Wimbledon Championships. Subsequently, she received a wildcard entry into the main draw of the grass-court Grand Slam tournament. However, her singles comeback didn’t go according to her plans. Serena bowed out of the tournament early, losing against Harmony Tan of France in the opening round. Despite the defeat, she has inspired countless others with her fighting spirit, and among them is her sister, Venus Williams.
Venus on Serena Williams’ comeback at Wimbledon
During a weekly question-and-answer session with her fans on Instagram, a fan asked Venus, “What would you say has been the most heartwarming moment in professional tennis this year?” Subsequently, Venus replied to the question by posting Serena’s picture at Wimbledon this year, while saying, “Say less!”

Despite her loss, Serena put in a great fight in her first singles match after a year. In a match lasting three hours and 11 minutes on Centre Court at Wimbledon, Tan got the better of Serena in three sets, 7-5 1-6 7-6 (10-7).
Venus’ comeback at Wimbledon
The elder Williams sister also joined Serena at Wimbledon this year. However, unlike her sister, Venus decided to try her luck in mixed doubles, teaming up with Jamie Murray. The duo reached the round of 16 in the grass-court Grand Slam tournament.
