Can parenting be fun? For many, it’s a whirlwind of challenges and chaos, but for Alexis Ohanian, it’s an absolute blast. Known for his tech-savvy brilliance and for being Serena Williams’ number-one supporter, Ohanian’s most cherished role might just be Dad Extraordinaire. From impromptu adventures with Olympia to sweet moments with baby Adira, he’s constantly raising the bar for modern fatherhood. This time, he’s back in the kitchen showing off his culinary creativity—because why settle for plain old breakfast when you can whip up an artistic masterpiece instead?
The 41-year-old has often depicted his culinary skills and a tradition that has been running for a long time in his family: Papa Pancakes. Ohanian puts on the chef’s hat every weekend and prepares pancakes for his daughters, a tradition he inherited from his father. Interestingly, this is not a normal tradition as he amalgamates his cooking mastery with art and transforms the pancake batter into creative designs ranging from hamburgers to waffles, or Disney princesses. And this time, he chose to make a burger!
Taking to his X, Ohanian gave a sneak peek into his kitchen with pancakes made in various shapes: burger buns, lettuce, and the filling. In yet another picture, he highlighted the various shapes amalgamated into one thereby transforming into a burger-like shape. Captioning the post, Ohanian wrote, “Burgers for breakfast!? #PapaPancakes” Interestingly, Ohanian started sharing his passion for making pancakes soon after the birth of his elder daughter Olympia. But now, even younger Adira has been brought into the family tradition in May this year.

In yet another update in November this year, Ohanian shared a picture on his Instagram story, showing Adira enjoying her father’s pancakes. And while many might simply see this gesture from Ohanian as love for his daughters, the Reddit Co-founder once revealed how his pancakes also help him in teaching his daughters.
Engaging in a discussion with his wife, Serena Williams, on Lingo’s Spike Sessions, Ohanian revealed a deeper layer to this tradition. “When Olympia was little and couldn’t really speak, I’d make alphabet letters in the pancakes for every letter in her name. I can’t take all the credit for her learning to read, but pancakes definitely played a part,” he said, depicting his creative method of teaching. But food from Ohanian’s kitchen does not come without a cost and even his daughters have to pay “tax” on their food, as cheekily revealed by Ohanian.

When Alexis Ohanian humorously revealed the concept of “Papa Tax” on food
Alexis Ohanian’s love soars up a notch higher when it comes to his daughters. However, he is quite an admirer of good food, and even his daughters are forced to pay the price for it. Expressing his cheeky side, Ohanian humorously revealed his interesting take on why he eats from his daughters’ plates.
During the same interaction, Serena Williams was asked, “Who’s more likely to eat food off of our kids’ plates?” She immediately burst into laughter and pointed to her husband. Adding to the fun, Ohanian gave a lighthearted explanation for his actions. “It’s called the ‘Papa Tax.’ You don’t know about it? Now you do. Papa pays for the food, so he gets to snack as much as he wants. The job of the Papa is to provide and to snack off kids’ plates. We learned that at an early age,” he said.
