Was creating Reddit a rounding error? Well, that’s what Alexis Ohanian, the husband of Serena Williams, was told by Yahoo personnel when he founded Reddit. In 2005, he was insulted by a Yahoo executive, and that insult pushed him to prove that it was not an error, but something that is still giving other social media apps a run for their money. And now, 18 years after Yahoo made fun of the co-founder of Reddit for his business acumen, he has duly paid it back.
The 40-year-old American businessman never hesitates to give back when the time is perfect. Nevertheless, he knows how to handle hostility, whether it comes from a fan, a well-known figure in the industry, or the sporting arena.

The American tennis legend’s husband co-founded Reddit when he was in college, which was nearly 20 years ago. And now, after so many years, the social media app is doing great on its own. However, in 2005, he was invited to a meeting by Yahoo. And that meeting ended in 10 minutes, in which a Yahoo executive made a statement, discussing how Reddit’s numbers were just a rounding error compared to Yahoo.
Understandably, even after many years, he has not forgotten this insult. Recently, the 40-year-old American entrepreneur grabbed the headlines for the Golf push present he gifted his wife a few days back. The news was even shared by Yahoo, that gave the Reddit co-founder an opportunity to give it by at the perfect time. He shared a screenshot of the news that was shared over Yahoo.
He just wrote, “Push present,” followed by a “Furious face” emoji.

However, after that, a fan asked the Reddit co-founder whether he was getting any commission from their affiliated link. To which he replied, sharing the whole Yahoo article with a statement, “Neither LAGC nor I get any commission from this article.”

The 40-year-old American entrepreneur indirectly trolled the social media app for not sharing the revenue that they got from their articles about him and his wife. And along with that, he also displayed how the company that once insulted him is now gaining traffic from his words.

Ohanian made his way through the insult
Ohanian talked about how the insult inspired him to achieve his best in an interview with “The F**king Metaverse Product” over 18 years after it occurred. To serve as a daily reminder of how much work still needed to be done, he printed out the “You are a rounding error” remark and taped it to the wall on his workplace.
