Father to Olympia and Adira, Ohanian recently used his podcast platform to not only reveal his pandemic journey as fatherhood but also win hearts with another adorable take on parenthood.

Ohanian in his Business Dad podcast indulged in a conversation with an LA-based Korean American businessman Bobby Kim and revealed his fatherhood journey during the pandemic. Mentioning how he found himself “spending more time” with his daughter than he “could ever imagined.” Ohanian further said, “ it was over a year and a half or two years, and even afterwards I started to adapt my own travel schedule specially now the second. To be able to show up in more ways, more often with my kids during this whole years , six year old and a seven month old. But I couldn’t help but notice it was just a bigger part of my life.” 

This Reddit co-founder has always shown his immense love for his daughters. Previously in June, Ohanian delved deeper into how he thinks “show up for” his daughters is the “greatest thing” he could ever do to keep them happy. He also revealed how he started prioritizing his family and kids over everything. “Alexis and these humans like this is your charge, this is your responsibility now, this is your legacy and all the other shit doesn’t actually matter. There’s two humans now whose opinion I really care about and they’re my kids”- he said.

Ohanian didn’t stop there but kept emphasizing how successful businessmen shouldn’t compromise with their families. Despite a net worth of $150 billion, Ohanian tweeted about how a majority of successful CEOs regret not spending enough time with their kids. This Reddit co-founder’s statement echoed his love for his kids.

While he was always fond of his fatherhood journey, Ohanian revealed how the pandemic conditions helped him to realize the happiness in being present with his kids and learning methods to balance fatherhood with professional dreams.

This Reddit co-founder also advocated for paternity leaves, speaking about how crucial it is for new fathers to get support after their child is born. He mentioned his experience and spoke about the challenges of the new fathers to choose between their family and professional goals.

While he mentioned that before Olympia, he wasn’t much bothered about it, Ohanian further narrated his story including Serena Williams’ complications during childbirth and how his presence was really helpful for the family.

“Serena and I were lucky enough to have help at home and many other advantages working in our favor. But even with all of that privilege, including my ability to focus solely on my family and not worry about keeping my job, it was still incredibly difficult. Nothing could have dragged me away from my wife and daughter in those hours, days and weeks — and I’m grateful that I was never forced to choose between my family and my job”- said Ohanian.

Focusing on this aspect Ohanian delved deeper and spoke about the “stigma” around men being the sole breadwinners of the family. This invokes fear that paternity leave can impact their professional status and so they often choose to ignore it. However, making his case as an example, Ohanian said, “Taking leave also set me off on the right foot for sharing parental responsibilities.”

Nevertheless, Alexis Ohanian’s statements helped fans to understand that he is a devoted father. Despite fearing the pandemic situation, Ohanian utilized the time to come closer to his daughters and be a present father. His intense love and attention for his daughters often assure people that he would raise two powerful women in the house with a great example for new fathers on how to be there for the family.
