Ohanian champions gender and racial equality through his social media platform. According to a figure quoted by Ohanian in the People magazine, only 9% of American firms give all male employees paid paternity leave, and 76% of men go back to work within a week of having a baby or adopting a child. Ohanian claims that the stigma of our culture and the socialization of men to be breadwinners are to blame for the lack of paternity leave.
