Serena Williams’ husband Alexis Ohanian has been a key investor in the new Angel City Football Club, which plays in the National Women’s Soccer League. His wife, Serena Williams, alongside Hollywood actress Natalie Portman, are also some of the investors in the club,.

Portman returns on screen as Jane on July 8 in “Thor: Love and Thunder.” However, Ohanian was quick to praise his fellow investor ahead of her movie’s release.

Serena Williams’ husband Alexis Ohanian meets Portman at her movie’s premiere

Ohanian took to Instagram to praise the actress ahead of the premiere. In one of his stories, he wrote, “NBD just a @weareangelcity founder who also happens to be THOR.” 

About her involvement as an investor, Portman said in March, “Watching my son idolize players like Megan Rapinoe and Alex Morgan the same way he did Lionel Messi or Karim Benzema, I realized that amplifying female athletes could rapidly shift culture.”

The club’s sporting director is the retired England striker, Eni Aluko, while the coach is Freya Coombe.

Serena Williams holds the record of most Grand Slams among active players (men and women), 1 more than Rafael Nadal. However, she lies one short of the elusive mark set by American legend Margaret Court with 24.

Williams has been unfortunate with injuries in recent times, missing out in the last two Grand Slam finals she has been in. However, at 40 she makes a return to competitive action after a gap of 12 months at Wimbledon.
