Undoubtedly, preparation for any sport is quite expensive. Be it the training under a coach, equipment, and other expenses. However, in a recent discovery, a Redditor posted about the phenomenal tennis coach, Patrick Mouratoglou. The Redditor highlighted how abrupt his pricing is. The post on Reddit also was paired with an explanatory caption. It put focus on Mouratoglou’s previous stance on tennis and its expenses.

Mouratoglou has made quite a name for himself in the tennis circuit. Mostly, by coaching some of the biggest stars like Serena Williams & Simona Halep & many others in the sport. So, what is this new equation around fees that people on Reddit are criticizing?

Patrick has just launched a one-time interaction for those who are willing to learn from him. While it’s a great initiative. People are mostly worried about the price they will have to pay to attain this wisdom. That’s right, it is a whopping $7500 for one session.

For that amount, he would only give a one-hour lesson. And a complimentary 30-minute debriefing about the game and techniques off-court. The caption of this post highlighted a major change in Patrick and his beliefs. Earlier this year, Patrick shared his views on tennis being too expensive. Which is why young players are not joining the sport as much as they should. It looks like he didn’t take his own advice.

$7500 is a staggering amount even if the training goes on for a month. However, there isn’t a scarcity of rich folks in this world. Obviously, many would happily pay the amount to spend some educational time with the legendary coach himself. A few Redditors pointed out what could have been Patrick’s intentions.

The reaction of tennis enthusiasts to Mouratoglou’s exclusive session cost

Patrick has coached many stars and Serena Williams is one of them. So, it is understandable that his fees are on a higher note. However, this seems a bit too much. One Redditor commented their views on this in quite a humorous way. They said: “There are hours and hours of videos of his coaching content online. I think I am good.” Well, it is definitely a reasonable response.  Most of his training videos are actually out there on the web for people to access. Someone else commented: “I don’t care how rich you are there is nothing he is going to do in that hour worth 7500 unless you’re the type that expresses status by exclusive money burning.” Well, it’s quite subjective, people can have different priorities.

Another comment digs deeper into Patrick’s side of the story. Even though it’s just an assumption, it seems quite realistic nonetheless. They said: “He probably has better things to do than coach one on ones, but still leaves it as an option for wealthy people or fans. It’s a “I don’t really want to do this, but I will for the right price” type of deal.” On a similar note, this next comment says: “Guys don’t get bad blood over it. These lessons are for people that belong to a different ecosystem. We’d be happy spending 75$ for a coach. He’s charging 100x to people who earn at least 1000x more than us.” Well, it looks like almost no one in the general setting is ready to accept this situation with open arms.

Whatever the case might be, it is apparent that Patrick Mouratoglou could have easily kept his prices on the lower end. Tennis is not an exclusive game for the wealthy one. Patrick’s wisdom could’ve gone in the right direction, supporting the one who really needed it. However, it all came down to money and his personal choice.
